Bacon-Flavored Crispy Chickpeas

Crispy roasted chickpeas are a wonderful, inexpensive, vegan snack that is protein-packed and delicious! This recipe is bacon-flavored, but you can put whatever flavorings and seasonings you want. These chickpeas are great as a snack, a side or a topping for salads. 


Roasted chickpeas with bacon seasoning


Chickpeas:
1 can chickpeas
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp salt 

Bacon Seasoning:
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp celery salt 
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp black pepper
 

1. Rinse and drain one can of chickpeas (save the chickpea water as it is great for a variety of recipes). 

2. Pat dry your chickpeas until there is no water left. This will help get them extra crunchy. 

3. Preheat your oven to 425℉ and place your chickpeas on a baking sheet, spreading them apart. 

4. Drizzle your chickpeas with olive oil and sprinkle them with a generous pinch of salt. Bake in the oven for about 35-40 minutes. 

5. In the meantime, prepare your bacon seasoning with brown sugar, smoked paprika, celery salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper

6. Once the chickpeas have baked, let them cool for about 10-15 minutes. Then place them in a bowl and add your bacon seasoning. Serve and enjoy!
